WINTER STORM WARNING FOR CENTRAL DOUGLAS COUNTY

A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for central Douglas County above 2,000 feet through Saturday Morning at 10:00 a.m.

A Winter Weather Advisory remains in place above 800 feet through Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said for the Warning area, heavy snow, with additional accumulations of 5 to 15 inches are expected. Winds gusting as high as 35 miles per hour. For the Advisory area, additional accumulations of 1 to 5 inches are expected with winds gusting as high as 35 miles per hour.

The Warning area includes Interstate 5 passes south of Canyonville, the Tiller-Trail Highway and the higher terrain of Douglas and eastern Coos counties. The Advisory area includes Canyonville, Camas Valley, Glendale and portions of Interstate 5 and highways 138 and 42.

Forecasters said snow levels will lower to the valley floors Friday night into Saturday morning. Travel is strongly discouraged due to dangerous conditions. Those who must travel should keep tire chains, a flashlight, blankets, food, water, medications and a fully charged phone with them.
