ROSEBURG MAN JAILED FOLLOWING DUII FREEWAY CRASH

March 1, 2024 9:50 a.m.

A Roseburg man was jailed by the Oregon State Police following a DUII crash on Thursday night.

An OSP report said at 11:50 p.m. a sports car was traveling northbound on Interstate 5, a mile north of the Winston exit, when the vehicle hydroplaned. The driver lost control and the vehicle left the roadway striking a large milepost exit sign owned by the Oregon Department of Transportation. The car also took out a large section of ODOT fencing before coming to rest in the brush.

The report said the driver was determined to be intoxicated and was arrested. After refusing a breath test, a warrant application for blood was signed by a judge. The 47-year-old man was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center for the draw and then was taken to corrections. He was detained without bail.

The sports car was towed away.
