The Umpqua Valley saw a record amount of rain for the date on Thursday, but the fact that it was February 29th impacts the data.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service told News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN that 1.71 inches of rain was recorded at the Roseburg Regional Airport. The previous record for the date was .37 inches of rain set in 2012.

However since February 29th only occurs every fourth year, there is less data for the date.
