A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect through 10:00 a.m. Saturday for mountain areas in southern Oregon.

Forescasters at the National Weather Service said heavy snow and blowing snow is expected. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 4 feet with 12 to 16 inches at the Siskiyou Summit. Winds will gust as high as 65 miles per hour.

The Warning area includes the southern Oregon Cascades and Siskiyou Mountains. It applies to Crater Lake, Diamond Lake, Crescent Lake, and all passes, including portions of Interstate 5 and highways 58, 138, 230, 62, 66 and 140.

Forecasters said travel could be difficult to impossible. Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.

Snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour are possible at times in the mountains. Travel is strongly discouraged because of dangerous conditions.
