WINTER STORM WARNING ABOVE 2,500 FEET FOR CENTRAL DOUGLAS COUNTY

A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect through 10:00 a.m. Saturday above 2,500 feet for central Douglas County and its eastern foothills, eastern Curry County and Josephine County.

A Winter Weather Advisory remains in place through 10:00 a.m. Saturday above 1,500 feet.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said for the Warning area, heavy snow is expected above 2,500 feet. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 4 feet, locally higher over the Kalmiopsis Wilderness. Winds will gust as high as 50 miles per hour. For the Advisory area, snow is expected above 1,500 feet. Total snow accumulations of 6 to 12 inches, locally 18 inches above 2,000 feet. Winds will gust as high as 30 miles per hour.

The Warning area includes the Kalmiopsis Wilderness, Highway 138, and the Tiller-Trail Highway. The Advisory area includes the passes on Interstate 5 north of Grants Pass, and highways 42, 199 and 138, including Camas Mountain and Hayes Hill.

Hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. Strong winds could cause tree damage.

Those who must travel should keep tire chains, a flashlight, blankets, food, water, medications, and a fully charged phone with them.

A Winter Storm Warning means that severe winter weather is likely and poses a threat to life and property.
