Sutherlin Police jailed a man for an alleged burglary and DUII incident on Saturday night.
An SPD report said 9:10 p.m. officers responded to a residence in the 400 block of Southeast First Street in Oakland. 42-year-old Cord Daves had allegedly broken into a victim’s home when she was gone. The man had reportedly sent texts of him inside the home to the victim. When the victim returned home, she reported the damage that the man had allegedly made.
The report said that Daves had entered the house through the dog door, which the victim had tried to secure with tape. Daves allegedly broke a 70-inch television, and a storage box. He had reportedly broken a weapon on a safe, breaking apart the gun handle.
While with the victim, officers observed Daves make continued threats on the phone, including one to kill the victim and several other people. Upon leaving the home, Daves drove past a deputy a block away then turned his vehicle into an alley to try and quickly hide. The man allegedly exited the vehicle and took off running.
Daves was apprehended at gun point in front of the post office and taken into custody without incident. Daves disclosed that he had drunk three beers and also showed physical signs of impairment.
Daves was charged with first-degree burglary, second-degree criminal mischief and driving under the influence of intoxicants. He was detained without bail.
