IDAHO MAN CITED FOLLOWING DOWNTOWN ACCIDENT

An Idaho man was cited following a downtown accident Wednesday evening.

A Roseburg Police report said at 6:30 p.m. the 60-year-old was eastbound on Southeast Oak Avenue approaching Southeast Stephens Street. The driver was checking his GPS map when he entered the intersection and was not aware of what color the light was. His vehicle was a rental, and he did not have proof of insurance with him at the time.

The second driver was northbound on Southeast Stephens in the left lane, intending to turn onto Southeast Washington Avenue. The 29-year-old entered the intersection of Southeast Oak just as his light turned yellow,

The first vehicle collided with the driver side of the second vehicle, causing the airbags to deploy, Both vehicles were disabled in the intersection and had to be towed away.

The driver who caused the accident was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device and for driving uninsured.
