Covering coastal Douglas County:

Deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office jailed a transient after a warrant arrest in Gardiner on Saturday.

A DCSO report said at about 8:30 p.m. a deputy witnessed the man’s motorhome parked on Sparrow Park Road. The deputy knew the suspect had a felony warrant for his arrest. Reedsport Police responded to assist in taking the 47-year-old into custody.

The man was described as being extremely volatile throughout the arrest and transport process. He allegedly made many threats against law enforcement personnel along with many racial slurs. The man reportedly attempted to kick his way of the patrol vehicle numerous times while enroute to the jail.

The suspect was detained for the warrant and detained on $10,000 bail.
