A NEW DIRECTION SUBMITS PETITIONS CALLING FOR REPEAL OF MEASURE 110

On Wednesday, A New Direction submitted 3,000 petitions to the Oregon State Legislature’s Joint Interim Committee on Addiction and Community Safety Response, from Oregonians calling for the full repeal of Measure 110

A release from the organization claims that since its passage, Measure 110 has had disastrous consequences for the people of Oregon, with a 67 percent increase in fentanyl deaths last year – the highest in the nation.

A New Direction founder Christine Drazan said, “Oregon’s experiment with Measure 110 has been an abject failure”. Drazan said, “Oregonians deserve to be safe in their communities without having to walk over needles to get to work and without fear of drug-related crime. It’s time for a new approach that opens more avenues for treatment and prioritizes safety for all who call our state home”.

Christine Drazan will talk more about the issue on Inside Douglas County Thursday at 12:30 p.m. on News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN.
