COOS BAY MAN DIES IN TWO-VEHICLE ACCIDENT

February 7, 2024 4:35 p.m.

A Coos Bay man died in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 42 in Coos County on Monday afternoon.

An Oregon State Police report released on Wednesday said just before 4:40 p.m. troopers responded to the wreck about 2.5 miles east of Coos Bay.

The preliminary investigation indicated a westbound sedan operated by 20-year-old Brycen James Creamer lost control while negotiating a curve and crossed into the eastbound travel lane. The vehicle slid sideways into the path of an eastbound SUV, driven by a 52-year-old woman from Myrtle Point, and was struck near the front passenger door.

Creamer was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the SUV had serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The highway was closed for approximately 3.5 hours during the on-scene investigation. Speed and wet roadway conditions are suspected to be contributing factors to the collision.

OSP was assisted by Bay Cities Ambulance, Coos County Sheriff’s Department and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
