A Winchester man was jailed for an alleged burglary in the Myrtle Creek area Sunday afternoon.

A report from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said at 4:45 p.m. a nearby resident called and said she had noticed a light and television on inside a residence in the 1100 block of North Gazley Road and knew the homeowner was out of town. A deputy contacted the homeowner who said nobody should be inside and he would pursue charges. Units arrived on the scene and noticed a large hole in the glass of the door.

A deputy entered the residence and found 40-year old Earl Kelso sitting on the couch. Kelso was charged with first-degree counts of burglary and criminal mischief. He was detained on $15,000 bail.
