K9 Zoro tracked and apprehended a man with multiple felony warrants who fled from police on Thursday afternoon.
Information from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and the Roseburg Police Department said just before 12:15 p.m. officers with RPD responded to a residence in the 1900 block of Southeast Douglas Avenue, believing that 24-year old Devin Goodman was there. Goodman had multiple warrants for his arrest and was reported to possibly be armed.
When officers arrived, they observed Goodman flee from the back of the home and gave chase. K9 Zoro from DCSO responded and searched the area. K9 Zoro found Goodman, who was hiding in heavy brush. Goodman allegedly tried to push K9 Zoro back and refused to comply with commands. K9 Zoro apprehended Goodman, who was taken into custody by officers.
Goodman was evaluated for non-life-threatening injuries at CHI Mercy Medical Center and was then taken to jail. He was charged with four RPD warrants and was detained without bail.
K9 Zoro is a 6- year-old German Shepherd and has been with DCSO since September of 2019. He was purchased by an anonymous donor in the community and was gifted to the agency.
