On Friday, Feeding Umpqua received a semi-truck load of food from Wanda and Steve Olsrud, owners of Sherm’s Thunderbird Market.

The annual donation began in 2006. Since then, Sherm’s has donated over 500,000 pounds of food to Feeding Umpqua, the regional food bank operated by the United Community Action Network.  Director Sarah McGregor said this year’s donation was over 20,000 pounds of food.

McGregor said, “We are so grateful for the Olsrud family’s continued generosity. Sherm’s has been such an incredible partner in the fight against hunger”. McGregor said this donation will support their continued work providing emergency food to a network of 16 emergency food pantries throughout Douglas County. McGregor said, “Together we are fighting hunger and feeding hope”.
