Interstate 84 is now open between Troutdale at milepost 17 and Hood River at milepost 64 following an ice storm that closed the Interstate for nearly 31 hours.
Information from the Oregon Department of Transportation said chains are required from milepost 37 to 63 for all vehicles over 10,000 gross vehicle weight or vehicles towing.
Conditions in the Gorge may continue to change quickly. Crews have worked through the storm laying down sand, salt and deicer and will continue to do so. This helps to break up the packed ice and snow, but some areas remain slick.
