Deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office jailed a Roseburg man following a reported trespass incident Monday morning.

A DCSO report said at 8:30 a.m. a resident claimed that two people trespassing on his property near the 800 block of Elkhorn Lane and the 7000 block of Buckhorn Road near Glide. The resident said he was alerted to two subjects after his dogs started barking.  The man found his residence open with the two suspects in his driveway.

The resident encouraged the subjects to leave and they did. He later found them allegedly trespassing at a nearby property and believed they were casing residences in the area.

Deputies located the suspect vehicle and saw the subjects trying to avoid law enforcement by driving onto another property. When contacted, the 37-year old admitted to opening the door at the first residence. He was taken into custody and charged with first and second-degree trespass, driving while suspended-misdemeanor and for failure to register as a sex offender. The man was detained without bail and was released on Tuesday.
