A man was hospitalized after a freeway wreck on Friday night.

An Oregon State Police report said shortly after 6:00 p.m. the driver of a passenger car was northbound on Interstate 5 near the Tri City/Riddle exit when he suffered a medical event. The vehicle lightly impacted a traffic barrier, causing damage to the driver’s side. Deputies from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and medical staff performed CPR until then man was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center. His wife stated that the man had had recent heart surgeries and was suffering complications.

The vehicle was towed from the scene.
