WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY TUESDAY NIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY EVENING

January 15, 2024 1:30 p.m.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 10:00 p.m. Tuesday through Wednesday evening at 8:00 p.m. for mountain areas in parts of southern Oregon.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said 6 to 8 inches of snow is expected with moderate chances of 8 to 12 inches at higher elevations. Winds will gust as high as 55 miles per hour.

The Advisory area is for the south central and southern Oregon Cascades and Siskiyou Mountains. This includes Crater Lake, Diamond Lake, Willamette Pass, and Lake of the Woods. It applies to portions of highways 140, 62 and 138.

Forecasters said drivers should plan on slippery road conditions. Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.

Motorists should slow down and allow extra time to reach their destination. Carry tire chains and be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities.
