A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect through 10:00 p.m. Saturday for mountain areas in southern Oregon.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said heavy snow is expected with total snow accumulations of up to 3 feet. Winds gusting as high as 50 miles per hour over exposed terrain, with blowing snow causing reduced visibility.

The Warning area includes the south central and southern Oregon Cascades and Siskiyou Mountains. It applies to Diamond Lake Junction, Crater Lake and Lake of the Woods along with highways 62, 138, 230, 58 and 140 in the Cascades.

Forecasters said travel could be very difficult to impossible. Blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches. Isolated power outages are possible.

Those who must travel should keep tire chains, a flashlight, blankets, food, water, medications, and a fully charged phone with them.
