Roseburg Police jailed a man following alleged retail theft on Tuesday.’

An RPD report said at 2:30 p.m. officers contacted the 50-year old at Fred Meyer in the 900 block of Northwest Garden Valley Boulevard, after he was detained by loss prevention for alleged shop lifting. The suspect admitted to the theft and was taken into custody without incident. His parole officer authorized a detainer.

The man was charged with second-degree theft and for a parole violation. Bail was set at $6,250.
