Detectives with the Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team made a seizure of what Lieutenant Rick McArthur called “a huge amount of methamphetamine” on Sunday.

A DINT release said in the early morning hours, detectives arrested two California individuals traveling to Douglas County with the alleged intent to deliver a large load of meth.

McArthur said at 4:00 a.m. detectives initiated a traffic stop on a pickup at the intersection of Main Street and Chief Miwaleta Lane in Canyonville. The vehicle was occupied by 46-year old Marcus Fuentes and 39-year old Stela Vigue, both of Bakersfield.

McArthur said detectives suspected the vehicle contained a large load of meth being delivered to Douglas County from California. Detectives quickly obtained a search warrant for the vehicle. Inside the passenger compartment, they reportedly found approximately 21 pounds of suspected methamphetamine packaged in one-pound bundles, along with a semi-automatic handgun.

Both Fuentes and Vigue were taken to the Douglas County Jail on charges of unlawful manufacture, possession and delivery of methamphetamine. In addition, Fuentes was charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm. Fuentes is detained on $250,000 bail. Vigue was held without bail and was released on Monday.

McArthur said the average user dose of methamphetamine is 1 gram or less. That means that 21 pounds is approximately 9,525 grams.
