Roseburg Police arrested a 27-year-old Roseburg man after an alleged assault Thursday morning.

RPD reports that officers were called to a residence on Northeast Russel Avenue for a disturbance just after 9 a.m. The suspect allegedly covered the victim’s mouth, impeding her ability to breath.

The suspect allegedly fled the scene prior to officers arriving, but was later contacted and taken into custody on charges of strangulation and fourth degree assault. The Roseburg man is still in custody and being held without bail.
