A Roseburg man was jailed by Roseburg Police following an alleged theft incident on Wednesday afternoon.

An RPD report said at 1:30 p.m. a victim dropped his keys while returning cans at a business in the 700 block of Northeast Garden Valley Boulevard. A 37-year old suspect was nearby, saw the keys, and reportedly grabbed them and left the store without returning them or turning them over to store employees.

The victim was quoted a price of $450 to replace the key fob that was stolen. The officer later located the suspect who admitted to taking the keys and still had them in his possession.

He was charged with second-degree theft and taken into custody without incident. Bail was set at $6,250.
