A High Surf Warning is in effect until 10:00 p.m. Thursday for the south-central Oregon coast and the Curry County coast.
Forecasters at the National Weather Service said that large breaking waves of 20 to 25 feet are expected through Wednesday afternoon. Dangerous breaking waves of 25 to 35 feet are forecast for Wednesday night into Thursday morning.
The Advisory area includes all beaches in Coos, Curry and Douglas counties.
Forecasters said extremely large breaking waves will create very hazardous conditions along beaches and area shorelines. Waves will inundate beaches and surge into normally dry areas. Infrastructure damage and significant beach erosion can be expected.
King-tides are expected during this time and this will increase the inundation of beaches and increase the risk of beach erosion.
Beachgoers should stay off beaches, rocks, jetties, piers and other waterside infrastructure.
