The City of Roseburg is accepting applications for the its Economic Development Commission.

A City release said applications are being taken for three vacancies that will exist on the commission as of December 31st. The deadline for applications has been extended to 5:00 p.m. on Friday December 22nd. Applicants must be Roseburg residents or own property or a business in the city limits.

Commissioners serve three-year terms unless they are filling an unexpired vacancy. Two of the vacancies will arise when the term of two current commissioners expire, as neither has opted to serve another term. The people appointed to those vacancies will serve through the end of 2026.

The third vacancy arose when a current commissioner resigned due to a scheduling conflict. The person appointed to fill that seat will serve the remainder of the term through the end of 2025.

The commission meets at 3:30 p.m. on the fourth Thursday of January, April, July and October. It works to encourage cooperation between the public and private sectors to provide effective community economic development and tourism promotion programs. The commission also evaluates and oversees the use of the city’s transient room tax revenues, which are allocated for programs and events that promote local tourism efforts.
