A former Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Corrections Deputy is in jail on 18 charges following his arrest Tuesday in an embezzlement case.

Sergeant Daniel Allen of the Roseburg Police Department said at the request of DCSO, RPD conducted an investigation into allegations that 44-year Peter Collins had embezzled funds while serving as the union treasurer for the Douglas County Law Enforcement Association between 2016 and 2023. Allen said during that investigation, Collins admitted to embezzling more than $100,000 from the organization.

Collins is being held on five counts each of first-degree theft, computer crime, and fraudulent use of a credit card as well as first-degree counts of forgery and official misconduct. He is being detained without bail.

Allen said the investigation is ongoing and no further information will be released at this time.
