The 30th annual Timber Truckers Light Parade is happening this Saturday night.

Over the years, as many as 15,000 people have lined the 5-mile route in south county. Some trucks have displayed as many as 40,000 to 50,000 lights on a single truck. Up to 70 trucks have been in past parades, which takes about 90 minutes from the starting point at the D.R. Johnson lumberyard in Riddle, to its conclusion in Myrtle Creek.

Entries are judged prior to the start of the event with prizes awarded in several classes. Total prizes and cash awards exceed $3,500 this year. Along with trucks, any street legal vehicle can participate as long as it has at least one string of working holiday lights.

Vehicles should assemble at the mill at 1991 Pruner Road by no later than 4:00 p.m. Drivers should check in at the main office before attending a driver’s meeting at 4:30 p.m. just prior to the start of the parade.

As part of the event Riddle has an Old Towne Christmas while Myrtle Creek hosts the Winter Festival, which will be at the Myrtle Creek Community Center.
