A Flood Watch remains in effect through Wednesday afternoon for much of the region.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.

The Watch area is for western Douglas County, Coos and Curry counties and western Josephine County and includes the communities of Myrtle Point, Coquille, and Scottsburg. It applies to portions of Highway 101, Highway 38, and Highway 42.

Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Rock falls and mudslides are possible.

Moderate to heavy rain will continue with another 1 to 3 inches of rain likely across a large portion of the area. Up to 5 inches in the coastal areas of Curry and western Josephine counties is forecast. This will lead to an increased risk of flooding.

Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
