Deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office jailed a Roseburg man following an alleged DUII crash on Monday night.
A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 8:00 p.m. a deputy responded to the accident near the intersection of Lookingglass Road and Cinbar Drive. The deputy observed several indicators of impairment and the driver admitted to drinking a single beer earlier in the day.
When the deputy requested the 43-year old man take standard field sobriety tests, the driver asked for an attorney. The man was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center for evaluation and the deputy applied for a search warrant. Just prior to serving the warrant, the driver reportedly tampered with evidence.
A blood sample was collected and the driver provided a blood alcohol level of .18 percent approximately four hours after the crash.
Christopher Battilega was charged with DUII-alcohol, reckless driving, and tampering with physical evidence. Battilega was detained without bail.
