A Flood Watch remains in effect for much of the region through Wednesday afternoon.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.

The Watch area is for central Douglas County, Josephine County and Curry County and includes the communities of Myrtle Point, Coquille, and Scottsburg. It applies to portions of Highway 101, Highway 38 and Highway 42.

Forecasters said excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.

Heavy rainfall will resume Tuesday evening and Wednesday as another atmospheric river moves into the region. Another 1 to 3 inches of rain is likely across a large portion of the area with up to 5 inches in the coastal ranges of Curry and western Josephine counties. This will lead to an increased risk of flooding.

Residents should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
