The Umpqua National Forest is having work parties on the North Umpqua Trail this month.
A Forest Service release said groups are doing maintenance on the burned segments of the NUT on weekdays throughout the winter season. Work parties will continue on Wednesdays and Thursdays in January as the weather allows. Groups will be working on December 6th and 7th, December 13th and 14th and December 18th and 19th from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Trail maintenance includes log out, more complex project trees with rigging, brushing and possible tread projects as needed. Volunteers should bring rain gear, water and food, long sleeves/pants, closed toed shoes, and work gloves. Tools will be provided.
