A Flood Watch is in effect through Wednesday afternoon for much of the region.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.

The Watch area includes central Douglas County, Josephine County and Curry County, including Myrtle Point, Coquille and Scottsburg. It applies to the roadways of Highway 101, Highway 38 and Highway 42.

Forecasters said excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.

Repeated heavy rain is forecast through the period.

Residents should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should further flooding develops.
