The United Community Action Network and Saint Joseph Catholic Church will soon be formalizing an agreement for use of the church’s gymnasium for a warming center this winter.
Chief Executive Officer Shaun Pritchard said he has met with Roseburg City Manager Nikki Messenger and Father Jose Manuel Campos Garcia and is excited about the possibility of this being a long-term relationship to address the needs of the community.
Pritchard said UCAN will be working with its other partners in the next week to put an operations plan together for the Roseburg Warming Center, which will include volunteer opportunities.
Pritchard said UCAN has a similar effort underway in Grants Pass and continues to address the Governor’s emergency orders. That includes in relation to the Archie Creek Fire, emergency rental and utility assistance and addressing the homeless situation. All of this while running Head Start, WIC, Feeding Umpqua, the Gary Leif Navigation Center along with over 20 other programs.
More information is expected soon. Shaun Pritchard will talk about the evolving plans for a warming center on Inside Douglas County, Thursday December 7th at 12:30 p.m. on News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN.
