WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY/STORM WATCH IN THE MOUNTAIN AREAS

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect through 4:00 a.m. Friday with a Winter Storm Watch in effect from 4:00 a.m. Friday through Saturday afternoon above 4,000 feet in the mountain areas of southern Oregon.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said for the Winter Weather Advisory, 4 to 9 inches of snow is expected.  For the Winter Storm Watch, 12 to 36 inches of snow is possible. Winds could gust as high as 45 miles per hour over exposed terrain.

The Advisory and Watch area includes the southern Oregon Cascades and Siskiyou Mountains including Crater Lake, Diamond Lake, Willamette Pass and Lake of the Woods.

Forecasters said travel could be very difficult to impossible. Drivers should slow down and allow extra time to reach their destination. Carry tire chains and be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities.
