Deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office jailed a transient for a reported menacing incident on Wednesday.

A DCSO report said shortly after 8:30 a.m. a victim advised that 47-year old Ryan Ferguson had gone “crazy” and had started breaking things at her residence in the 500 block of Shadow Ranch Lane, just north of Roseburg.

The first deputy arrived and heard a loud boom that he believed at the time to be a gunshot.  A short time late, Ferguson came out of the trailer with his hands on top of his head. He was detained and placed in the patrol vehicle. Ferguson said that he had thrown “a jar of piss” against the wall but it broke and there were no firearms involved.

The victim said she was placed in fear by the man’s actions. She said Ferguson did not live there but refused to leave and had caused a lot of damage to her residence. A witness who lived down the street and heard the loud boom, had called in and reported what he thought were gunshots. Another witness came to the trailer and said Ferguson had broke her phone and gone crazy. The second witness also heard the noise and believed it was gunshots as well.

While the deputy was conducting interviews, Ferguson reportedly began kicking the side windows of the patrol vehicle, causing damage to the point that the door now does not shut properly. Another deputy transported Ferguson to jail while the first deputy finished his interviews.

The suspect was charged with two counts of first-degree criminal mischief, first-degree criminal trespass, domestic menacing, interfering with making a report and second-degree disorderly conduct. Ferguson was detained without bail.
