The Green Area Water & Sanitary Authority discovered a sanitary sewer overflow at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday.
General Manager David Campos said it was originating from a manhole near the intersection of Little Valley Road and Happy Valley Road in Green. Campos said the overflow was caused by vandalism and resulted in an estimated 250 gallons of raw sewage entering a nearby storm drain, where it was ultimately discharged into Roberts Creek. Campos said GAWSA stopped the overflow at 3:55 p.m., took proper measures to clean and sanitize the affected surface area and notified the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality.
