November 13, 2023 2:50 a.m.

A Phoenix man was cited for DUII-alcohol following a minor traffic on Saturday afternoon.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at about 2:50 p.m. the 57-year old backed his pickup into another vehicle in the parking lot of a business in the 100 block of Southeast Main Street in Canyonville. The accident caused very little damage to the other vehicle. The driver was unsure how to handle the situation, so decided to call law enforcement.

When the deputy arrived, the driver appeared to be intoxicated. He allegedly performed poorly on standard field sobriety tests and was taken into custody. The man was transported to corrections and reportedly provided a blood alcohol level of .11. He was released to a sober driver after the citation was issued.
