City of Roseburg employees are participating in holiday gift drives, and are encouraging residents to take part as well.
Employees are buying children’s pajamas for the Douglas County CASA Pajama Drive and gifts of children’s clothing, toys and supplies for the Salvation Army Angel Tree Program. In addition, Roseburg Police officers will participate in a Shop with a Cop event on Saturday December 9th.
CASA’s Pajama Drive has been held for more than a decade to provide pajamas to children in foster care. Boxes for the effort are now set up at Roseburg City Hall’s Administration Department and at the Public Safety Center. Residents can donate to the drive by dropping off pajamas of all sizes from infants to teens by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday November 30th. Pajamas should be new, with store tags still on and unwrapped.
The Salvation Army Angel Tree Program hopes to provide gifts of children’s clothing, toys and supplies to over 300 local children who otherwise might not receive anything else for Christmas. Parents can apply for “Christmas Assistance” from the Salvation Army’s Social Services program.
Angel Tree tags are expected to be available at City Hall starting on Monday November 13th. Tags include the child’s name, age, and gender, plus suggested gift items and sizes. Unwrapped presents and corresponding tags should be returned to City Hall by Monday December 11th. City staff will deliver the gifts to the Salvation Army the next day.
