A Sutherlin man has been charged with first-degree arson for a recent large commercial fire.
Captain Kurt Sorenson of the Sutherlin Police Department said on Sunday October 29th several people reported the fire at the building which was part of Tim’s Tree House at the corner of West Central Avenue and Grant Street. Sorenson said Sutherlin Fire Department and several other local fire agencies responded to fight the blaze. The large metal building was destroyed.
After an extensive investigation, 20-year old Airian Jacob Navin was suspected of intentionally lighting the fire. He was arrested on Sunday and was also charged with three counts of recklessly endangering another person. Bail was set at $375,000.
Sorenson said anyone with any other information regarding the fire is asked to call SPD at 459-2211.
