On Tuesday, 4th District U.S. Representative Val Hoyle issued a statement on Congressman Earl Blumenauer’s retirement announcement.

Hoyle said: “Congressman Earl Blumenauer has modeled what it means to be a tireless public servant and civic leader for Oregon. From his early days as a student activist to his pivotal role as one of Oregon’s youngest legislators and throughout his time representing Oregon in Congress, his commitment to investment and expansion of bike and pedestrian transportation infrastructure, protecting animal welfare and advocacy for our tribal nation stands out”.

Hoyle said, “He has fought tirelessly for cannabis legalization and access to banking, and we will continue that fight. Earl has been an unwavering voice for reason, breaking through many partisan divides. He has always been an innovator and visionary leader and his dedication to Oregon runs deep”.

Hoyle concluded, “I will miss having him as a colleague”.
