A deputy with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office jailed a woman following a theft incident late Wednesday.

A DCSO report released on Saturday, said just after 11:55 p.m. 911 received a call about a theft from a business in the 400 block of Bear Creek Road in Curtin. The caller said the woman had become aggressive in the store and was yelling and screaming at employees. The suspect then allegedly stole a hat off of one of the employees before fleeing the store and heading northbound on Interstate 5 in a pickup.

A deputy went to the business and watched the video footage and identified the woman as 35-year old Summer Tracey. Another deputy located the suspect vehicle at a business at Rice Hill. The deputies found Tracey inside the front of the store and told her to come over to the patrol vehicle. She allegedly declined and was told to place her hands behind her back. Tracey reportedly refused so the deputies took control of her arms. She was eventually placed in custody and admitted to stealing the hat.

Tracey was charged with third-degree theft, second-degree disorderly conduct, harassment and for resisting arrest. She was detained early Thursday and was held without bail.
