On Wednesday, the Douglas County Board of Commissioners issued a proclamation calling upon all residents to celebrate and honor Veterans and Military Families month.

A County release said the proclamation also recognized and invited citizens to honor all veterans on Veteran’s Day and to attend the 68th annual Douglas County Veterans Day Parade.

Commissioner Tom Kress said, “It is always a great day when we get to recognize our veteran community. For several years we have set aside a day to honor Veterans Day and the annual Douglas County Veterans Day Parade”. Kress said, “This year we wanted to proclaim and celebrate the entire month of November in honor of our Veterans, as well as pay tribute to Military Families for the immense sacrifice they make while their loved ones proudly serve in our U.S. Armed Forces”.

Commissioner Tim Freeman presented proclamation certificates to a large group of military veterans, veteran service and support groups and military family members.

The proclamation was presented by Commissioner Chris Boice. A copy of the video presentation can be found on the Douglas County government Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/DouglasCountyeGovernment
