Roseburg Police cited a man for depositing trash within 100 yards of a waterway and for prohibited camping on Tuesday.
An RPD report said last Thursday officers cleaned up the 42-year old’s camp site behind the eagle statue near the intersection of Northeast Stephens Street and Northeast Diamond Lake Boulevard. The site was described as “atrocious” and it took officers several hours to remove all the debris.
Officers returned Tuesday at 1:35 p.m. and saw that the suspect had set up his camp back in the same location, and had allegedly made another huge mess. The report said there was trash strewn all over and that a lot of it had tumbled down into, or next to Deer Creek. Officers estimated that there were three to four large trash bags worth of garbage scattered around the area.
Officers had previously warned the man of the Time, Place and Manner ordinance multiple times. The man was released on the scene and instructed to clean up his mess.
