On Tuesday, Myrtle Creek Police jailed a man for alleged sex crimes.

Detective Kevin Taggart said on Monday at about 12:00 p.m. MCPD began an investigation into an inappropriate online communication between 31-year old Myrtle Creek resident Nathan Michael Cunliff and a juvenile female. Taggart said the investigation revealed that Cunliff had reached out to the juvenile and in a period of just a few hours had agreed to meet the juvenile to have sexual contact. During the conversation Cunliff used graphic descriptive details about the sexual contact with the juvenile, according to Taggart.

On Tuesday at about 1:30 p.m. officers with MCPD, assisted by deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, contacted Cunliff. He was placed in custody without incident. Cunliff was taken to jail, where he was charged with online sexual corruption of a child in the first and second-degree, as well as luring a minor. He is detained without bail.

Taggart said investigators with MCPD have reason to believe that there may be other victims that have not yet been identified. The department is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying other victims. Taggart said because there are potentially other victims, Cunliff’s photograph is being released to assist parents in identifying any other youth that may have had contact with him.
