Staff with the Umpqua National Forest have updated information on the Chilcoot, Brice Creek and Grizzly fires.
Suppression work and weather have moderated activity on the Chilcoot Fire. Operations on the fire are moving into a suppression repair phase. Suppression repair includes restoring hand and dozer line, back hauling equipment, chipping and other resource mitigations. The fire is listed at 1,948 acres and is 67 percent contained.
Crews are focusing on patrols and repairs on the Brice Creek Fire. Repair and water bar installation are complete. Some additional woody debris may be needed later to mitigate erosion. Operations are suspended due to the rain. The fire is listed at 571 acres and is 95 percent contained.
On Sunday only a small amount of heat was detected in the southwest corner of the Grizzly Fire. No movement to the west or north is being detected. The fire is listed at 324 acres with zero percent containment. The fire will now be patrolled from pre-determined observation points.
Northwest Team 6 is transferring command of these fires to Northwest Team 13 as of 6:00 p.m. Monday.
