A deputy with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office jailed a man on charges of third-degree escape and for a restraining order violation early Saturday.

A DCSO report said at 2:00 a.m. a deputy responded to the 300 block of 3rd Street in Yoncalla for an alleged restraining order violation. The resident said a man was inside and there was an active restraining order against him. The deputy checked the area and observed the man running out the back door. The deputy chased the 31-year old about a half-mile to Main Street. The foot pursuit was terminated and the deputy stood by a jacket that the suspect had thrown on the ground.

Law enforcement set up a perimeter, and a search was conducted by a K-9. The deputy eventually located the suspect under a house in the 400 block of Main Street. He was detained without bail.
