A Roseburg man was jailed after a wreck and for alleged harassment on Thursday.

A Roseburg Police report said at 12:20 p.m. a victim was conducting a church outreach in the area of Southeast Jackson Street and Southeast Washington Avenue when 33-year old Jeremy Green allegedly approached him and asked for prayer. Green reportedly left in the middle of the prayer, only to return a short time later and begin arguing with the victim. The victim claimed the argument got heated and said that Green hit him in the face. The suspect later admitted to hitting the victim and said it was in an attempt to release the demon, which Green believed was possessing the victim.

At 2:30 p.m. officers received reports of a reckless driver going north on Northwest Edenbower Boulevard. A short time later, the call was updated and officers learned the vehicle had crashed in the 3000 block of Edenbower. Green allegedly showed signs of impairment and refused to do standard field sobriety tests. He did not provide a breath sample and a warrant was written for his blood and urine. Officers also learned that Green had allegedly stolen a bag of ice from a nearby business just prior to the crash.

Green was charged with driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless driving and third-degree theft. He was also charged with harassment from the first incident.
