Roseburg Police jailed a man for an alleged assault on  Tuesday night.

An RPD report said at 11:15 p.m. officers contacted a victim at the Adapt Motel in the 500 block of Southeast Stephens Street. The man was bleeding from a laceration above his left eye. The victim said a 58-year old had hit him over the head with a rock, under the bridge across from a business in the 200 block of Northeast Jackson Street.

The victim was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center for his injuries. Officers located the suspect who admitted to hitting the victim, but said he didn’t use any weapons or a rock. The man was charged with fourth-degree assault and detained on $3,000 bail.
