A revised forest closure is now in effect on portions of the Cottage Gove and North Umpqua Ranger Districts of the Umpqua National Forest

A UNF release said this closure dramatically reduces the area closed due to ongoing fire response activity and for public and firefighter safety, due to the Chilcoot, Brice and Grizzly wildfire incidents. The previous fire closure is now rescinded.

Since August 28th, the Cottage Grove Ranger District had been closed in its entiretly to public access. The vast majority of this district is now open, with the exception of the new closure area between Hardscrabble Ridge and Dinner Ridge. Similarly, previously closed sections of the Diamond Lake Ranger District, such as the Boulder Creek Wilderness Area and the area northwest of Toketee Lake, are now open.

The public is encouraged to stay up to date on current fire restrictions, forest closures and active wildfires in the area, especially regarding the Chilcoot, Brice and Grizzly incidents by following the Umpqua National Forest Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/UmpquaNationalForest/
