BUREAU OF LAND MANAGEMENT NATIONAL PUBLIC LANDS DAY

September 18, 2023 3:20 a.m.

Staff with the Bureau of Land Management will have a volunteer friendly day for weed removal and cleanup at the Millpond and Lone Pine Recreation sites and the Sawmill Trail as part of National Public Lands Day on Saturday, September 23rd.

Swiftwater Field Office Assistant Field Manager Cheyne Rossbach said, “We are excited to offer a National Public Lands Day event at our recreation sites within Rock Creek”. Rossbach said the sites have had several years of hazard tree removal and lots of recovery work, post fire. Rossbach said there is a lot more work to be done. The volunteer opportunity gives local communities a chance to come out and help with that recovery.

Volunteers interested in participating should arrive by 9:00 a.m. Saturday. Volunteers will work until about 1:30 p.m.

The BLM will provide all tools and work gloves needed. Volunteers should dress appropriately and bring water and a light snack.

To get to the Millpond Recreation area, travel 22 miles east of Roseburg on Highway 138. Six miles east of Glide, turn north on Rock Creek Road. Travel five miles to the recreation area.
