A vehicle fire spread to vegetation in the Tenmile area Thursday night.

Douglas Forest Protective Association Public Information Officer Rachel Pope said at approximately 7:00 p.m. crews from DFPA, Tenmile Rural Fire Protection District, Lookingglass Rural Fire District and Douglas County Fire District No. 2 responded to a fully engulfed vehicle fire near Burnt Ridge Road and Coos Bay Wagon Road, about 6 miles northwest of Tenmile.

Pope said rural responders were first on the scene and reported that the fire had gotten into the surrounding vegetation. DFPA’s ground and aviation resources were able to knock down the forward spread of the fire quickly, limiting the burned area to 1/10th of an acre. Firefighters cleared the area by 9:30 p.m.

Pope said warmer weather and lower humidity are expected throughout the weekend. Pope said residents should exercise caution when traveling and recreating near and around dry vegetation. Public and Industrial Restrictions remain in place.
